If you’re searching for the perfect do it all short for spring, summer and fall, the Patagonia Stretch Terre Planing Walk Shorts will quickly become your go-to shorts for nearly every activity. I’ve had the chance to test these shorts out while hiking, traveling, SUP’ing and every day use to date. There are some pieces of clothing that will become a staple in your wardrobe lineup and I am hear to say this is one of those pieces.
Patagonia Stretch Terre Planing Walk Shorts Details
The Patagonia Stretch Terre Planing Walk Shorts are 20″ in length in which they sit just above the knee for most people. This is great for sun protection while still providing some dexterity. Not to mention, they have UPF 50+ built into the shorts. One of the greatest features about the short is their ability to dry quickly. On a recent use of the shorts, I was SUP’ing with my dog that hasn’t done much swimming. After 10 minutes of working with her swimming in the water, I got up on the board with her. Within 2 minutes, the shorts were nearly dry, 5 minutes and they were completely dry. The shorts are similar to hiking shorts in how fast they dry, but they don’t scream I’m with Ranger Rick.
One feature in case you get caught out in the rain is the DWR coating the shorts come with, always a nice feature in my book!
Fit of the Shorts
The fit of the Stretch Terre Planing Walk Shorts is true to size which is nice to know if you’re ordering online. I usually wear a medium/32 around the waist and the mediums were spot on. If by chance they are a bit roomy around the waist, they are plenty of belt loops and there is also an internal drawstring that you can use.
Mix Between Board Shorts and Hiking Shorts
My best description of the Patagonia Stretch Terre Planing Walk Shorts is that they are a blend between a pair of board shorts and a pair of hiking shorts. They blend the best of both types of shorts into a short that can be used with nearly every activity while still looking good enough to wear to a summer BBQ or out to a casual dinner. I tested out the glass blue color which works well with almost every type of outfit, some of the other patterns look like they might not work well with all shirt combos. Your style, your choice.
These shorts absolutely rock! I don’t have one negative thing to say about these shorts and I definitely give these shorts a big two thumbs up! For more information, visit Patagonia.com
