Active Gear Review

Here at Active Gear Review, we go out and find the best products and do all the research for you. We take the best products out of the mix, for we know a good piece of gear can last you years and years. We then run all of the products through rigorous testing to see how they perform in everyday and extreme conditions, this way all your questions should be answered.

Adam B.

Adam is an ex-collegiate track and field athlete and a true weekend warrior. He lives in Denver, operates a graphic design and web site development firm, and enjoys all types of sun and snow activities in the mountains. He has recently taken up triathlons and devotes an illogical amount of his monthly budget to shoes and other sports gear!

AJ

A.J. Johnson started running when he was 6 years old. Growing up he played all types of sports, from your standard soccer and baseball, to B.M.X. at a national level, and tennis at the college level. He never stopped running and eventually got into triathlon. After 10 years in triathlon, 2 of them at the professional level, he “retired” from racing and now gets outside for fun. He enjoys all variations of skiing, cycling, and running and is up for just about anything outdoors. He still enjoys competing in endurance events and has started the Endure Tour as a way to race and raise funds for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. To find out more about him, and to see what he’s currently doing, go to www.enduretour.com.

Alex R

Alex is one of our new female testers here at Active Gear Review. Whether it be training for a marathon, hiking through the backcountry or snowboarding at any number of Colorado's resorts, Alex needs no excuse to enjoy the amazing Colorado weather and terrain. Always up for a challenge or new experience, Alex enjoys taking on new endeavors whether it be training for a marathon or riding down a mountain.

Courtney J

Courtney Johnson grew up playing softball and tennis, figure skating and hockey. Since moving to Colorado she has dabbled into all kinds of sports from trail running and mountain biking to snowshoeing and skate skiing. She is a freelance sports writer and photographer and her work can be seen in newspapers and magazines around the world. Her first children’s book called The Friendship Leaf will be out this fall.

Janae A

Janae joined Active Gear Review's team upon her recent move back to Colorado. She is passionate about physical health and always up for a new activity! She has sought mountain adventure in numerous countries, including Argentina and Chile’s Patagonia and the Peruvian Andes. However, she feels at home in the Colorado Rockies. Her recent activities include distance running, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding and yoga.

Jenn H

Jenn is an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Marathon Coach, Bootcamp and Kickboxing Instructor and has trained individuals of all ages and fitness abilities for the past 9 years. A life-long athlete, Jenn is a former college softball player, track & field and cross-country athlete and has participated in numerous marathons, adventure races, cycling events and triathlons. If interested in getting personalized training by Jenn, you can visit www.BreakThruFit.com

Justin

Justin is an outdoor adventure seeker always looking to push past his physical boundaries. He participates in long-distanced running, triathlons and cycling events throughout the summer. During the winter he packs any daylight with snowboarding, mountain biking and cold-weather training…preferring a 0 degree run in the snow to the treadmill any day. Living in Boston, Justin puts our gear through the best New England can dish out.

Shannon

Shannon, our fabulous female tester, takes gear testing to a new level for women. When not at work or school, she is most likely training for a marathon, climbing one of Colorado’s tallest peaks, riding her road bike, or skiing down a mountain slope. Like many women, Shannon gets cold easily, therefore, we try to test the best all weather gear to help her stay warm and dry during all day outdoor pursuits. In the warmer months, Shannon enjoys exploring the Colorado backcountry with her friends and dogs and attempts to escape for as many trail runs as her schedule allows. Shannon is a great women’s tester because she gives readers true insight into how a product may perform for an active woman.

ZRod

Zach most recently joined the ranks of AGR's tester with his launch into the world of long distance running. Before this, Zach could be found firmly strapped to the only true down hill snow conveyance - a snowboard. Rarely found on man made features or in terrain parks, Zach is usually found seeking out pow stashes, glades, and trees. When snow wasn't an option, Zach could be found tearing up cross country mountain bike trails. Whether it's trails runs, road races, long hikes or backpacking, he's always up for the experience - best shared with his friends at AGR, of course.
