Patagonia Women’s Reconnaissance Jacket Review

Patagonia’s Reconnaissance Jacket is a dream for winter’s chill. The jacket is soft and highly compressible while delivering unbelievable warmth and comfort. We tested the Reconnaissance on many Colorado ski days and on long cold walks with the dogs. We loved the combination of soft shell on the outside and cozy PrimaLoft Eco insulation on the inside. Together, these provide a breathable yet warm piece that will continue to keep you warm many hours into an adventure. The seams of this jacket are sealed, not sewn, and the outer is finished with a coat of Deluge DWR (durable water repellent), which combine to provide excellent water repellency. We really liked the ultra soft taffeta lining at the collar, the helmet-compatible hood that cinches from the rear to seal out the elements, and the cozy hand-warmer pockets that are placed exactly where your arms naturally fall at your hips. The jacket has a regular fit and runs slightly larger than other jackets on the market, so try one on before you buy to ensure a perfect fit. Testers liked the added length of the jacket that covers most of your rear-end, which worked great when teamed with the zip-off powder-skirt and loops, to keep out snow or keep your bum warm when riding the lift. When your body heat rises, there are pit zips to air you out and the hood can be zipped and snapped off. Like many products by Patagonia, the Reconnaissance utilizes recycled fabrics throughout and can be recycled once you are finished with the product.
