Salomon Tiana Fleece Review
Spring weather calls for frequent layer changes to adapt to the ever-changing weather conditions. The Tiana Fleece by Salomon, helps make the transitional weather more tolerable thanks to actiTHERM technology. actiTherm allows for a warm technical layer without the bulk of a typical midlayer. The Tiana doesn’t weigh you down like a heavyweight fleece, rather, the Tiana is a stylish-comfortable-stretchy top that really moves with you. Salomon states that the Tiana has a relaxed, yet feminine fit, which we totally agree with. The top fit our tester perfectly; she is 5’9” and weighs 135 lbs, and the medium was a great fit. The arms are pretty long and there is adequate body length to keep you completely covered. The hood is a nice touch, but we wish it had some ties to cinch down when there is an added chill to the air.
The Tiana Fleece fits under a rainshell for when the weather turns sour, or can be warn by itself in more mild temps. We wore the hoodie/jacket running when temps were in the 30’s to 40’s and when hiking in 50-degree windy conditions, we were pretty cozy and didn’t feel overheated. There are two hip pockets that offer a warm home for your hands when out on a stroll. The zip comes up to the chin area to seal out the chill and the wrist cuffs also provide a tight seal. The Tiana, after about 5 washes, has maintained its super soft feel (something we hope sticks around!) We were slightly concerned about the quality of stitching in this piece; the cuffs had some lose strings with mild wear and tear.
The Tiana is a new piece to Salomon’s Spring 2010 line. Overall, we liked the piece but are unsure of how it will last through a full year of use. For more information, please visit Salomon.com
