The Sport Line Dog Pack is a lightweight dog pack with the dogs’ comfort and functionality in mind. The Sport Line incorporates rip stop fabric with reflective trim into a 3-compartment pack. On one side there is a saddle-bag for larger items, such as dog food, and on the other there is a breathable mesh compartment with drainage and closed off compartment for even more gear. Aspen wore this back on a few Front Range hikes and he definitely went for a swim or two; the water-tight zippers kept the water out and the fabric was resistant to water even after a few minutes of submersion. Still, it is best to double bag any food items in case of an extended swimming bout. The handle and d ring offer two more attachment points for the leash, while the handle aids in keeping your dogs close or with transfers during canyon trips. Aspen enjoyed the padded sternum and belly straps and the pack stayed put on his torso even while running at a quick clip. Us humans enjoyed the ease of placing the pack on the dogs, but felt the padding on the belly straps could use a little more fluff and that they shifted from time to time, causing some mild rubbing. Overall, the Sport Line pack was a keeper from the human and dog viewpoint and should be a go to piece this summer on the trail. For more information, please visit Mountainsmith.com
