For those of you that are familiar with goose down fill, you know that it is extremely warm, lightweight, and soft against the skin. The problem with down is when it gets wet, the warmth factor goes way down. This problem has been solved by Mountain Hardwear with the release of the Synchronicity jacket which is made ofof 800 goose down fill accompanied by their waterproof-two way stretch softshell outer. We’ve tested this jacket while snowshoeing, skiing, cold and wet weather camping, and last but not least, walking the dogs when it’s so cold outside that the cool air causes you to cringe when you open the door to go outside. The Synchronicity has somewhat of a plain look on the outside, but don’t let that fool you when it comes to its features. This jacket is equipped with water resistant zippers, pit zips to help regulate body temperature, a zipper flap to keep cold air from going through the zipper on windy days, and fleece lined pockets to keep your hands warm when you need a warm place to stash your hands. As you might be able to see in the picture above, the Synchronicity has an open style cuff allowing you to let your cuffs cover your gloves or mittens, and a Velcro strap to keep everything in place. There are 4 total pockets on this jacket; two side pockets and two chest pockets, one internal and one external. If there were one suggestion we would give to Mountain Hardwear for the next go around, it would be to add a little jazz to the look of the jacket. Overall, we’ve been very pleased with the performance of the Mountain Hardwear Synchronicity and give the jacket our stamp of approval.
