The Hedgehog GTX XCR is a low profile speed hiking shoe that looks and feels more like a supped up trail runner. The Hedgehog weighs a mere 25 oz per pair and packs a lot of features to produce a great multisport shoe capable of tackling any terrain. The shoe incorporates a grippy lightweight Vibram outsole to provide wonderful traction and a shank plate for added forefoot protection from rocks and tree stumps. Testers wore this shoe with a 25 lb pack and felt comfortable with each step . The Hedgehog also incorporates a Gore-Tex XCR membrane to keep feet dry in the elements, yet the shoe remains breathable on hot bouts.
