Pawz Dog Booties Review

Pawz dog booties are re-usable, disposable, dog booties that are made from 100% natural rubber. They basically look like balloons for your dogs paws and work to keep the snow off your pups paws and increase their comfort. The booties allow the paw plenty of room and allow your pup to bend and flex as needed for traction.

Pawz provides a sizing chart on their website that is based on dog breeds. The sizing ranges from tiny, which is smaller than xx-small, and goes up to to x-large. Of course, the size may also depend on the heftiness of your dog, as well as their sex and age. Based on the size guide, our two Airedales should wear a size large booty. Aspen, our male Airedale, weighs about 70lbs and has a tad larger paw than our female, Suki. The booties fit both dogs perfectly, however, Aspen’s nails punctured the booties within 5 minutes of prancing around at the trail-head. Maybe we are bad dog manicurists, but we did not anticipate this happening so quickly. Suki, on the other hand, only punctured her front two booties and this seemed to come much later into our hike, which was 3 hours of running through the snow.

Check out Suki, below, with the purple Pawz booties on. Despite a few hours out in the snow, Suki and Aspen kept all the booties on for the entire hike. They definitely tried to get them off and were unsuccessful each time. The Pawz were relatively easy to put on in the car and reminded me of stretching out a balloon before blowing it up. The seal at the top of each booty is tight enough to keep out the elements but does not compromise circulation to their paws.

We pretty much tested out the Pawz in some extreme conditions and may have caused the premature tearing of the boots. However, for everyday use, such as on super cold days when pups tend to take to the three-legged walking because their paws are chilly, Pawz dog booties may be a great solution. In addition, they can serve as a barrier to that nasty salt, magnesium chloride, and other chemicals placed on the roads and sidewalks to give more traction. Another cool use, that is not winter related, may be on hot sand or when your pup has an injured paw.
