Elemental Herbs Sunscreen Review

Elemental Herbs Elemental Herbs Sunscreen ReviewElemental Herbs manufactures a wide array of organic skin care products, including sunscreen. We tested Elemental Herbs’ Sunscreen Sport SPF 20, Sport SPF 22 tinted, and Kids SPF 20. Elemental Herbs sunscreens are chemical and fragrance free. The active ingredient in all three products is zinc oxide 25%, which naturally acts as a physical barrier against harmful UVA and UVB. Zinc oxide is typically hard to rub into the skin; some sunscreen manufacturers opt for nano-particles of zinc oxide to place in their products to ease application. Elemental Herbs uses non-nanoparticalized zinc oxide in their products because there is scrutiny over the effects of nanoparticle absorption. Elemental herbs sport and kid’s sunscreen provided excellent sun protection when used as directed, and was even water resistant when used during heavy exercise. The Kids formulation is safe enough for children under 6 months of age because it does not contain chemicals, which also makes these products great for individuals with sensitive skin. The one downside of any pure zinc oxide product is that the sunscreen is thick and heavy, making it difficult to apply, while also leaving a white film on the skin. The tinted variety did not mask the white film very well and left our testers with a slightly pink hue on their skin. The fragrance free design also leaves your skin smelling metallic in nature. Overall, Elemental Herbs sunscreen line is a great alternative to the chemical laden sunscreens on the mainstream market, however, there are some trade offs that you must be willing to take in exchange for a natural product.
